Research has found that new dads gain weight after the birth of their newborn. The findings stated that dads can gain up to one stone after their little ones are welcomed into the world.
New mums on the other hand tend to lose the baby weight as a result of welcoming their new baba. These findings have come to light after a recent survey that concluded that one in ten new dads gain the same amount of weight as new mothers do within the first year of the babies life.
The survey which included 1,500 men found that dads can pack on anywhere from 5 pounds to 1 stone. Thinking of why this is, we are putting it down to not having as much time to choose a healthy option. Having a new baby also takes up a lot of time and going to the gym can be difficult when you have a new life to care for. Less time contributes so much to this finding, less exercise time and time to prepare healthy food is a massive contributor.
Baby keeping you up all night? Lack of sleep can affect your levels of satiety which has a link to you feeling full after eating. This can have a negative effect on muscle mass in men. The survey also asked the question “when did you realise you had a Dad body”?
The findings were as follows, 27% stated that they noticed as they struggled with clothes and seemed like all their clothes were much tighter. 15% noticed it as they were getting short of breath on tasks that would not have been an issue before. Most noticed after they saw a recent picture of themselves and were not happy with what they seen.
Baby’s don’t judge and love a soft squishy belly to cuddle up to so plenty of time to get into shape when the baby goes to college. Lol
